What this shelf is, where the ideas came from, and how to use it.
What is Vellum?
Vellum is a shelf for SillyTavern cards, lorebooks, and personas.
It started as a private project to test building a site with AI. That test got worked up into an alternative and a backup for Botbooru, in case something goes wrong over there.
Why does this exist?
Mostly so there is another place for the shelves I already like, and a home for my own stuff.
If Botbooru has trouble, this is somewhere the same kind of shelf can still be reached. It is not here to replace them.
Where did the good parts come from?
A lot of this is very inspired by other sites, and some of it is copied from them. The big ones are Botbooru and Chub. The tag page, the wiki, the categories, and a lot of how the shelf works came from looking at what they already do well.
There are my own ideas in here. The parts that are actually good were mostly gotten from them.
Who should I credit and support?
What can I put on the shelf?
Character cards, lorebooks, and personas.
Cards are SillyTavern character PNGs. Lorebooks are World Info JSON. A persona is who you play in the chat: one main picture, up to six other looks, a description, and tags. New uploads from a normal account wait for an admin to approve them before they show up in public.
How do tags and the wiki work?
Tags are how you find things. Each category has its own color. A tag's wiki page says what it means and which other names point at it. If one tag is an alias of another, the shelf stores the main name.
The tag list started from the public Botbooru catalog, with permission from the owner to pull the wiki pages too. You can still suggest a tag change if a name should redirect or sit in a different category.
How do I use a persona in SillyTavern?
Open the persona, copy the name and the description, then in SillyTavern open Persona Management and make a persona with that name. Paste the description in. {{char}} still means the character you are talking to.
The large picture is the main avatar. The smaller ones are other looks. Open the gallery on the large picture if you want the note on that look, or to download it.
Where are the rules?
On the rules page. Tag the rating honestly. Nothing sexual involving minors. Credit work that is not yours. If a listing breaks the rules, use Report on it.
