Definition

The is_siblings tag indicates that a character card is part of a sibling group with another card created by the same original creator.

Sibling cards are directly related creations that share a common origin or concept but are intended to exist separately. Unlike is_fork, a sibling is not an unofficial modification or replacement of another card. Instead, it represents a connected variant, alternate interpretation, or companion card that users may want to discover together.

Common examples of sibling relationships include:

  • Character variations - Different versions of the same character, such as male/female versions, futa/non-futa versions, or alternate designs.
  • Age variations - Versions featuring aged_up or aged_down interpretations.
  • Content variations - Different versions with changes such as alternate themes, settings, or intended audiences.
  • Universe or scenario groups - Multiple characters or cards designed to be used together within the same setting, story, or scenario.
  • Alternate portrayals - Different takes on the same concept that are not intended to replace one another.

Usage

This tag is automatically applied by the system during the upload process.

When a user attempts to upload a bot and the system detects it as matching an existing card from the same creator, the uploader may choose to mark the new upload as a sibling instead of a fork.

Selecting to sibling will apply is_siblings to the related posts, indicating that they are connected creations from the same source.

A post marked as a sibling should not also be tagged as a fork. Forks represent derivative versions of an existing card, while siblings represent separate but related cards.

Is Sibling vs. Fork

  • Sibling: "This is another related version or companion card you may also want to see."
  • Fork: "This is a modified version of an existing card."

The distinction is based on creator intent. A creator uploading multiple related versions of their own work should use sibling, while a different user modifying and reuploading an existing card should use fork.
