adult

Definition

adult refers to a character who has reached full legal, cultural, or physical maturity, typically defined as 18 years of age or older for humans, though this threshold may vary higher depending on fictional species, fantasy races, or lore.

This tag serves as a baseline age classification for filtering, indexing, and categorizing character bots. It establishes that a character meets the standard threshold of adulthood within their world or setting.

Contrast with underage

Unlike underage, which acts as a safety and content moderation filter for explicit depictions of minors, adult acts as an umbrella descriptor confirming maturity. If a character's age is explicitly defined as under 18 years old in the bot's written text, they are not classified as an adult unless specific lore or aged-up contexts apply.

Usage

Apply this tag when a character is explicitly stated or clearly established in written content to be of legal or cultural age (typically 18+).

Cross-Tagging & Implied Tags:
This tag is automatically or conceptually implied by more specific mature age descriptors. You may cross-tag or rely on implications for:

• young_adult (18–29 years old)

• older_male / older_female (30-55 years old)

• old_man / old_woman (56+ elderly characters)

• ageless (immortal, ancient, or non-aging entities established as mature)

Non-Human Species & Fantasy Races:
For non-human characters (e.g., elves, dragons, alien species), base maturity on their species' lore. A 50-year-old elf who is culturally considered a minor in their society should not receive this tag, whereas a 5-year-old rapid-aging artificial entity explicitly established as fully mature may qualify.

When NOT to use:

• Do not apply this tag to characters explicitly defined as under 18 in text; use underage, teenager, or relevant minor descriptors instead.

• Do not apply based solely on visual appearance. Age must be confirmable through written description, personality definitions, or greetings.
