ageless

Definition

Ageless refers to a character who does not undergo normal biological aging, whose lifespan vastly exceeds the standard expectancy for their species, or whose precise age is functionally meaningless due to immortality, supernatural traits, or eternal youth.

This tag acts as a specialized age descriptor for fantasy, sci-fi, and supernatural characters who fall outside standard human lifecycle tracking while maintaining full physical and mental maturity.

Usage

Apply this tag when a character's written content establishes that they do not age, have lived for centuries or millennia, or possess supernatural longevity.

Common Applications:

• immortal & Supernatural Species: Commonly applied to long-lived or non-aging fantasy races such as elves, vampires, deities, demons, angels, and ancient spirits.

• Eternal Youth: Characters who physically and mentally stopped aging at a mature stage due to magic, curse, biological anomalies, or advanced technology.

• High/Unknown Lifespans: Entities whose exact numerical age is unstated or lost to history, but clearly established as far exceeding normal bounds (e.g., "lived for countless eras").

Cross-Tagging:

• Implicit Adulthood: Typically implies adult when the character is portrayed with mature mental and physical traits, regardless of their timeless nature.

• Historical/Ancient Context: Frequently paired with role or origin tags such as deity, demon, vampire, or elf.

When NOT to use:

• Do not use this tag for human characters who simply look younger than their actual numerical age without supernatural non-aging traits; use youthful or physical trait descriptors instead.

• Do not use this tag for immortal or long-lived characters who are explicitly portrayed or defined as minors in their lore; use appropriate minor age descriptors alongside safety tags like underage where applicable (e.g., a newly born deity or recently created immortal entity who is chronologically and developmentally a child should be tagged with immortal + underage rather than ageless).
