Definition

Interview style is a writing format used in bot descriptions where character information is presented as a scripted interview or Q&A session. Instead of traditional prose or pseudo-code, the character's traits, personality, and background are revealed through a back-and-forth dialogue between an interviewer figure and the character themselves.

The format typically follows a pattern such as:

Interviewer: "Could you describe yourself?"
Character: "Response revealing personality traits"
Interviewer: "What are your likes?"
Character: "Response revealing preferences"

Usage

Apply this tag when a bot's character definition or description is written primarily in an interview format. This style is often used as an alternative to "pseudo-code" or natural language descriptions, as it can convey personality through the character's tone and manner of speaking rather than explicitly stating traits.

Do not use this tag for:

  • Bots that feature an interview scenario as the actual roleplay premise (use the appropriate "scenarios" tag instead)
  • Bots that only include a brief Q&A section within a larger description format
  • Bots where dialogue occurs between characters rather than an interviewer and subject

Interview style descriptions can be particularly effective at demonstrating a character's voice and speech patterns before the user even begins interacting with the bot, though they may convey less explicit information than structured formats.
