demihuman

Definition

A demihuman is a humanoid character that is partially or substantially non-human in nature while retaining a broadly human or humanoid form.

The term encompasses a variety of humanoid non-human races and character designs, including animal-like, fantasy, and other non-human humanoids.

Usage

Apply this tag when a character is explicitly presented as a humanoid non-human being or member of a non-human humanoid race.

This tag is broader than specific archetypes such as kemonomimi, beastfolk, elves, dwarves, merfolk, or centaurs.

Do not use this tag merely because a character has an isolated animal trait, such as animal ears or a tail, unless the character is otherwise presented as a non-human or demihuman being.

A character who is otherwise human but has animal ears or similar minor animal traits may instead qualify for kemonomimi.
