Definition

Animal abuse is an NSFL tag for situations involving deliberate or ongoing abuse, cruelty, or severe mistreatment directed toward an animal.

Usage

Apply this tag when an animal is subjected to deliberate abusive treatment, cruelty, or exploitation.

This can include physical abuse, torture, deliberate injury, severe neglect, or other forms of intentional mistreatment.

Use abuse alongside this tag when the situation also meets the broader definition of abuse.

Do not apply this tag merely because an animal is hunted, killed for food, injured in combat, or otherwise harmed in a non-abusive context.

Do not apply it merely because an animal is kept as a pet, trained, restrained, or treated in a manner that is not abusive.
