Definition
Netori is a Japanese term referring to taking someone else's romantic partner. It describes a scenario where the focus is on the acting party—the one who seduces, manipulates, or wins over someone already in a relationship. The appeal typically centers on agency, conquest, and the act of disrupting an existing relationship.
Unlike strict opposites, netori is not mutually exclusive with other NTR tags; it represents one perspective within a scenario, which may coexist with others if multiple viewpoints are meaningfully depicted.
Usage
Apply this tag when {{user}} is placed in the role of actively pursuing, seducing, or taking another character’s partner. This is the primary condition: if {{user}} is the one initiating the affair, the scenario should be tagged as netori.
The narrative should focus on the act of seduction and the process of winning the partner over. The presence of a betrayed party is not required. However, if present, their emotional reaction does not need to be the focus for this tag to apply.
Do not use this tag if there is no meaningful existing relationship being disrupted. Simple promiscuity or unattached characters does not qualify.
This tag may co-exist with netorare if the scenario also meaningfully depicts the emotional suffering of the betrayed party. Do not add netorare if that perspective is absent or insignificant.
Do not use this tag for scenarios where the relationship is openly consensual or encouraged by all parties; such cases fall under netorase.
Tagging Guide (NTR Context)
Use these rules to distinguish between related tags:
- netori: {{user}} (or POV role) is the one stealing or seducing someone else's partner.
- netorare: Focus is on the character losing their partner, with meaningful emphasis on their emotional reaction (jealousy, grief, helplessness).
- netorase: A character knowingly allows or encourages their partner to be with others, regardless of whether they emotionally struggle with it.
Multiple tags can be applied if the scenario meaningfully supports multiple perspectives.
